AT&T’s First High-End Android Phone– the Samsung Captivate– Coming July 18 for $199.99
Jul 8th

Excited for AT&T’s first truly high-end Android phone the Samsung Captivate? You know, the phone with Android 2.1, a 5 megapixel camera, Super AMOLED screen, and that fast Samsung 1 GHZ Hummingbird processor? If so, your wait is nearly over as AT&T and Samsung have today finally thrown out those final missing pieces about the phone– the price and release date. And what is this said pricing and release date? Two Sunday’s from now– July 18th– the Samsung Captivate can be yours for $199.99 with a new 2 year contract and required $15 or $25 data plan ($15 gets you 200 MB a month of data and $25 gets you 2 GB a month of data. If you plan to be watching a ton of YouTube and don’t have constant access to WiFi your better off springing for the $25 a month plan and avoid ever running into those nasty overage charges). Oh, and no mail in rebate is required (which is about time this hassle begins disappearing from when you buy a phone from the actual carrier).
With T-Mobile said to be launching their version of this Galaxy S phone, what they are calling the Samsung Vibrant, on the 15th — the same day Verizon just so happens to get the highly anticipated Motorola Droid X– next week is already shaping up to be a huge week for all things Android.
T-Mobile and Motorola Introduce New Motorola Charm– Android in a BlackBerry Style Design
Jul 8th

On T-Mobile and want Android, but want something that design wise is more like a BlackBerry than a myTouch 3G? If so Motorola and T-Mobile may have the phone for you in the all new Motorola Charm.
The Motorola Charm is a pretty solid new Android 2.1 phone, and as mentioned above, does it all in a sleek BlackBerry style design– something we have yet to really see in an Android phone. Other features on the Charm include:
- 2.8 inch multitouch screen with that full QWERTY keyboard– Sure it ain’t the biggest of screens, and we haven’t really seen an Android phone with this small of a screen, but in terms of design, it doesn’t look half bad.
- Motorola “Backtrack” optical trackpad on the back of the phone– For when you wanna navigate the phone without touching the screen. This is similar to what is seen on the AT&T Motorola Backflip.
- MOTOBLUR– For keeping easy access to all your social networks and friends. Unfortunately, it looks from these pix that it is running an Android 2.1 version of the older MOTOBLUR (seen on phones like the Backflip and Cliq), and not the much cooler one seen on the Droid X.
- 3 megapixel camera with video recording– Which should produce decent shots, just don’t expect the shots you’d get on the 5 megapixel Cliq XT or 8 megapixel Droid X.
- 3G, GPS and WiFi– With features like Google Maps Navigation and support for WiFi wireless N.
Sadly we don’t yet know of price or release beyond a somewhat vague “this Summer”– but assuming the price is good and the release is sooner rather than later, this could be be a very solid entry level Android phone for T-Mobile users. We’re gonna be keeping our eyes on this, and we’ll of course keep you up to date on all the info as we get it.

Microsoft KIN TWO– The Teen Review
Jul 1st

A few months back Microsoft announced their next generation of Sidekick– the KIN ONE and KIN TWO, two new phones focused on the teenager and what we use our phones for. Did they do a good job? Honestly, yes and no. After using the KIN TWO as my main phone for the last few weeks, there are a lot of things going in the KIN’s favor– a great keyboard and great social networking in particular– but also a lot of bad, like a somewhat slow interface and that required $30 a month data plan.
So if your on Verizon is this the next phone for you? Read on for the full teen take on the KIN TWO.
