Leaked Best Buy memo (Pic from Engadget)
So first Sony introduced the new PS3 Slim and cut the PS3 price down to $299. Then a couple of days later Microsoft came out and made the long rumored price cut on the Xbox 360 Elite, bringing that also down to $299. Nintendo meanwhile, as we all know, has been a little too quiet when it came to making a price cut on the Wii. And who could blame them– Wii’s are great and have been selling through the roof since it first came out a couple years back (think about it– remember last year holiday time– know of anywhere you could find a Wii in a store?).
Well, if you’ve been waiting on getting a new video game system to replace that old Xbox or looking to move to the next gen from your PS2, then listen up as the Wii just got to be a whole lot better option. Why? Because starting this Sunday, September 27th, look for the Wii to be priced at the amazing price of $199.99. Yes, $199.99!
That’s the same price as the Xbox 360 Arcade, and should definitely help Nintendo move a lot more Wii’s come holiday time. Of course, now, as mentioned in the title, comes the tougher part if you are looking for a new system– if price is a major factor (and let’s be honest here– $100 between a Wii and PS3 Slim or Xbox 360 Elite is real money– especially when your gonna wanna go get more controllers, accessories and games…).
I personally love my Xbox 360 which I’ve had for about 2 years. Yes, it broke down once with that cursed “red ring of death” (where your Xbox just dies and you need to send back to Microsoft to replace– a process that left me Xbox-less for about 2 months. Though the new Xbox 360′s don’t seem to be getting this problem as much, and mine has been running great since I got it fixed early last year), and playing games like NBA 2k9, Halo, and Madden in HD is amazing, and something you can’t do on a Wii.
The PS3 also though looks great and adds in things like built in WiFi (add on for the 360, though built into the Wii), Blu-Ray, and the free Playstation Network online gaming– while Xbox Live costs $50 a year, though Live does give off a much better experience in my opinion. And then of course you got this low priced Wii– with those great Wiimotes and fun gameplay, as well as a free web browser (like the PS3), WiFi, and free online play.
It’s definitely gonna be interesting, and we wanna know what you think is the best system to buy this year (taking into account that come next year the Xbox 360 will have Project Natal and the PS3 will have 3D and motion controls of it’s own). So….. vote in our cool little poll here and feel free to drop off your questions or thoughts on which system you’ll get/like to get in the comments.
Xbox 360′s Price Cut in Target flier (Pic from Engadget)
Well, well look what we have here. Another Xbox 360 price cut, this time to match the PS3 Slim’s new low price? If these upcoming weekend fliers for Best Buy and Target are to be believed, then don’t run out to buy that new PS3 Slim or Xbox 360 yet. Microsoft is about to drop the Xbox 360 Elite‘s price down to that same $299 the PS3 Slim is going for. Yup, $100 price drop, and definitely worthy of a week’s wait before buying in my opinion. Now what about the Xbox 360 Pro that’s right now priced at $299? Well, according to these fliers, that will be dropped to $249, but only while supplies last as rumors around the web are saying that Microsoft is about to drop the Pro from the lineup entirely (and leaked new boxes for the Elite and Arcade are only now showing the $200 Arcade version and the Elite on the back of the box, with no Pro in the middle– this helped fuel those rumors of Microsoft cutting the Pro).
Now Microsoft hasn’t confirmed any of this yet, but I sure believe this is real. Why? It only makes sense. Microsoft isn’t about to let the PS3 be the cheapest of the 120 GB consoles, especially with the holiday season starting in a couple of months. And the pix of the flyers also look real (seriously, these look like cellphone shots taken quickly). So what’ll it be– Xbox 360 Elite or PS3 Slim for your $299?

UPDATE: Yup, Microsoft came out today and officially said that starting tomorrow, they will cut the price of the Elite to $299, while the Pro is dropped to $249 while supplies last as they kill off remaining stock. Microsoft also reiterated that the Arcade will remain $199 and that all Xbox 360 consoles bought will work with the upcoming Project Natal. Full press release can be found here.
We see that a lot of you out there are really pumped about the LG enV3 and enV Touch that came out just recently for Verizon (don’t ask how we know- we have our ways).
So we thought this would be a great piece of news to kick off your weekend for prospective buyers out there: a price cut on BOTH of the phones! Yup, both phones (which haven’t even been in stores a month!) have gotten $50 and $70 price cuts respectively, bringing them down to much, much better prices: $79.99 for the enV3 (either in maroon, or “slate blue”), and $99.99 for the enV Touch. These are said to be online-only discounts, but we wouldn’t be suprised to find the same prices in your local Verizon store.
Both phones also seem to be feeling a lot of love from the people that have already got them, as the enV3 (in both its maroon and slate blue colors) received 4.5 out of 5 stars out of 203 reviews on Verizon’s site, and the enV Touch got a whopping PERFECT 5 out of 5 stars out of 340 reviews!
This makes picking one of them even tougher, yeah? So which would you choose of these, or perhaps another, like the LG Versa or Samsung Alias 2, or are you gonna wait it out another 2 weeks to see if it drops another $50?
Blackberry Storm- Your’s for $100 bucks?
Yup, you read that right. Rumor — and by rumor we mean MAJOR rumor — is that Verizon is actually considering pricing the Blackberry Storm at $99, making it $100 cheaper than the 8 GB iPhone 3G, and $30 and $80 cheaper than the Instinct and G1 respectively. This would be awesome especially with the holiday season right around the corner (its November now folks!).
The Storm is expected to launch any day this month (when exactly is still unknown), and at this price Verizon will likely require a very expensive Blackberry plan for it.
For all of those who wanna know what’s so great with this Blackberry Storm, check out our previous post here.
But we gotta ask- would an $100 Storm be enough to make you join “The Network” or are you gonna stick with an iPhone, Instinct, Dare or G1? Would you buy one of those other phones if they also got a nice holiday price cut? Sound off in the comments.

We know Microsoft just gave major price cuts to the entire Xbox 360 lineup (we wrote about it here), but if those new cheaper prices weren’t enough for you to go out and buy one, then this probably will. On the Dell Online Store — yes, they do sell things outside of computers — from now until October 6, when you enter a promotion code at check out, you will be able to save an additional $50 on an Xbox 360 Pro with a 60 GB hard drive (down to $249–same price as the Wii!) or an Xbox 360 Elite (down to $349).
For the 360 Pro: 7V2DJL$PD6NGWZ
For the 360 Elite: NP?CKPRH$KTWLL
These codes are real- I tried them myself, and all you need to do is add the selected 360 to your cart (click on the name of the system before the code above to get the respective page on the Dell Store site), go to checkout, and copy and paste the respective code in the “Add Coupon” section. Oh, and Dell will also include FREE 3-5 Day Shipping!
What this means to you: This is just for a limited time–only the next 3 days– but if you want a 360 for either yourself or for somebody else to get ahead on the upcoming holiday season, now may be the best time to buy it.
What do you think- Is now the time to buy, or does it pay to wait it out a little longer, expecting even better deals as the holiday season comes closer? Let us know in the comments.

We all know the Xbox 360 got a very welcomed price cut a couple weeks ago, and now Sony is stepping up and trying to match Microsoft with a price cut of its own. Just a note to start: However this price cut for the 40 GB PS3 has a countdown clock. Like Microsoft did with the 20 GB Xbox 360, Sony is giving it a price cut until all the remaining PS3′s are sold.
Now what is this PS3 price cut? According to Gizmodo.com, it will bring the PS3′s 40 GB price down $40 to $359.99 (from $399.99). Additionally, these PS3s will be bundled with Spiderman:The Movie and Transformers: The Game.
This isn’t a revolutionary price cut like the 360, where the Arcade version is now the cheapest “Next-Gen” system available — and yes, cheaper than the Wii by $50 — but for those of you who wanted a PS3 for a little less cash, today is the day to go and buy one because nobody knows when the clock will run out!

We mentioned yesterday the rumor going around of a 60 GB Xbox 360, and that it will replace the 20 GB version. Well today, the official word came from Microsoft, and coming this August, Microsoft will have this 60 GB version in the $349.99 price (old price for original Pro), and the current 20 GB will run from now till supplies last at a $299.99 price. Not much else is known on the new addition, such as if it will package any other things different from the bigger Hard Drive and the standard Pro accessories, but to find that out we”ll need to wait for E3 this week. O, and no new prices announced for the Elite (higher end) and Arcade (lowest but cheapest) versions.
If you ever were considering getting a new 360 Pro- now is probably the time to BUY, BUY, BUY!!!
