New Xbox 360 Dashboard
New Halo 3 info not enough for you and your Xbox? Well this should be enough. The Xbox website says that on November 19, the new dashboard update will be available. A recap on some of the things the update brings:
- Slick 3D “flip” menu interface
- Load games off of your hard drives instead of the disc (this is faster and brings no more worries of scratched discs!)
- Avatars (like Mii’s on the Wii) for Xbox Live Arcade games
This is a nice little update and will be both mandatory and free (you will need to download it, but you will also need to have at least 256 MB free for it to download) when it comes out next month.
We also have news for those perspective buyers out there who didn’t buy an Xbox 360 last week when Dell was giving those $50 off coupons (we wrote about it here). From now till who knows when, all versions of Xbox 360 (yes all: Arcade, Pro and Elite) will be bundled with full games in the box…free! The Pro and Elite with the Kung Fu Panda and Lego Indiana Jones and the Arcade (already including the regular 5 Xbox Live Arcade games like Pac-Man and Uno!) with a full copy of Sega Superstar Tennis. There are no changes in the overall price of the system, so think of this as an early holiday present to you from Microsoft 😉

Any of this info enough to make you wanna save up some $$$ and buy an Xbox 360, or are you gonna wait a little longer till the holiday season comes closer, looking for a better deal? Let us know in the comments.
We know a lot of you out there are really excited about the new Instinct App Store, and all the apps that could come with it. Unfortunately, today is October 10 and we got no new word for you. The latest news from the Instinct Developer page is that they’re still reviewing Apps to find out who wins the contest (for all the details on this Instinct contest, we wrote about it here).
We did though see on the Gizmodo that a new Pandora app — enabling you to listen to streamed music on your phone (already available for free on the iPhone) — is out for the Instinct (though it will cost you $3 a month to use).
Maybe Sprint is starting to slowly release Apps, one by one. I really hope that isn’t the case, and they will just release an App Store with everything there, but hey, better something then nothing.
We’ll keep you updated with anything new coming out on this. Until then, feel free to post any thoughts or wishes you have for new Apps as well as what you think of the Pandora app if you got it, in the comments.
UPDATE (2/23): Sprint appears to have canceled the entire contest, we have this written up here.
The Macbook event invite
Apple just announced today that next week on October 14, they will be releasing new Macbooks! What these Macbooks are exactly remains anyone’s guess, but the strongest of rumors claims that all the Mac notebooks (including the regular Macbook) will be made out of a single piece of aluminum. Some weaker rumors say everything from new trackpads (maybe glass ones with a multi-touch screen underneath, basically an iPhone in a Macbook), to a Mac tablet (see more info on these and other Macbook rumors here).
While we unfortunately won’t be there in person :(, we will, of course, give you all the info once it comes out next week. In the meantime, hold off on that new laptop purchase and feel free to give us your guess/wish on what you think will happen next week at this Apple event in the comments.

The newly official Blackberry Storm for Verizon!
Turns out all you Verizon users will have more than just some new Motorola phones to chose from this holiday season. After many long (and really just annoying) days of rumors on when Verizon would finally unleash the first ever touchscreen Blackberry– the Blackberry Storm– Verizon and Research in Motion (or RIM for short, the makers of Blackberry’s) just made it official, with an expected release coming in November!
For all of you on AT&T and Verizon who want a nice, stylish, phone yet don’t want to pay a lot of $$$ for an iPhone 3G or LG Dare- today you should pay a little attention because this may interest you. Motorola just spilled some info on a few of their future phones for AT&T and Verizon– all of which fit the stylish, functional and relatively inexpensive description very well.
We know Microsoft just gave major price cuts to the entire Xbox 360 lineup (we wrote about it here), but if those new cheaper prices weren’t enough for you to go out and buy one, then this probably will. On the Dell Online Store — yes, they do sell things outside of computers — from now until October 6, when you enter a promotion code at check out, you will be able to save an additional $50 on an Xbox 360 Pro with a 60 GB hard drive (down to $249–same price as the Wii!) or an Xbox 360 Elite (down to $349).
For the 360 Pro: 7V2DJL$PD6NGWZ
For the 360 Elite: NP?CKPRH$KTWLL
These codes are real- I tried them myself, and all you need to do is add the selected 360 to your cart (click on the name of the system before the code above to get the respective page on the Dell Store site), go to checkout, and copy and paste the respective code in the “Add Coupon” section. Oh, and Dell will also include FREE 3-5 Day Shipping!
What this means to you: This is just for a limited time–only the next 3 days— but if you want a 360 for either yourself or for somebody else to get ahead on the upcoming holiday season, now may be the best time to buy it.
What do you think- Is now the time to buy, or does it pay to wait it out a little longer, expecting even better deals as the holiday season comes closer? Let us know in the comments.
