Where’s BBM for iPhone? Apparently It’s Waiting To Be Approved
With BBM for Android leaking on video last week and looking like it was ready to go, a lot of people began wondering about the status of BBM for iOS. BBM for iOS was announced earlier this year at the same time as the Android version with all the same features, and like BBM for Android, was promised to be coming before the end of the summer (technically September 21st). Ever since that announcement though things have been very quiet with no new updates on when to expect the app. Well, we now have gotten a semi-official update that points to the app being almost ready to go.
This update comes from a tweet from Alex Kinsella, BlackBerry’s Senior Strategic Account Manager. According to Kinsella, the BBM for iOS app was submitted to the App Store for review “2 weeks ago.” All apps that are in Apple’s App Store need to be approved before they make it into the store, a process that sometimes takes days but at times can also take weeks. While we don’t know what exactly is holding up the BBM app’s approval by Apple, with iOS 7 (and new iPhones) only days away it is possible things might be a little backed up as developers are rushing to update their apps for the new OS.
Just in case we forgot to mention, BBM for iPhone was submitted for review 2 wks ago. #waiting #BBM4ALL

The good news though is that according to this tweet BlackBerry’s work on the app itself is done and it’s all on Apple to approve and release it. Actual BBM for iPhone should be here before the end of summer, just as BlackBerry promised.
