T-Mobile’s BlackBerry Bold 9900 Price and Release Date Announced– Launching In Stores August 31st

tmobile bold 9900

Well T-Mobile BlackBerry friends, it’s finally your turn. Verizon, Sprint and AT&T all announced when their new BlackBerry 7 phones will be launching and now T-Mobile has joined the fun. At the end of the month (aka August 31st) this new 4G Bold 9900 can be yours for the pretty expensive price of $299.99 with new 2 year contract and data plan. If you’re asking us we’d recommend waiting a few days or weeks for this to drop to a much more reasonable $200 on contract (and yes we wouldn’t be surprised to see someone like Best Buy, Walmart or Amazon do this so close after launch. It’s a great BlackBerry but not one worth $300), but if you need a new T-Mobile BlackBerry before school starts this still looks to be by far the best T-Mobile has ever offered.

Just a recap of the T-Mobile Bold’s features, for those who don’t know it’s pretty much the greatest BlackBerry released yet.  Features on the new Bold include a much faster 1.2 GHZ processor with 768 MB of RAM (so everything from BBMing to browsing the web is much faster), 5 megapixel back camera with the ability to take 720p HD video (there is no front camera for video chat), the latest and greatest BlackBerry 7 OS, support for T-Mobile’s 4G network, and that awesome BlackBerry keyboard underneath that 2.8 inch multi-touch screen. Full info on the Bold 9900 can be found here.

BlackBerry Bold Touch 9930 Now Live on Verizon’s Site! (UPDATE: Coming With 4G LTE?)

Well, it looks like we should expect some news on the Bold Touch 9930 after all– at least if you’re on Verizon. Yes, that video above is the hotly anticipated BlackBerry Bold Touch 9930 being demoed on video by Verizon, pretty much confirming that the sickest BlackBerry we’ve seen yet is going to be on its way to a Verizon store near you. And to make things better, the video was posted on Verizon’s site (under a second listing for the older Bold 9650). To view the video on the Verizon site just click on “Explore Features” under the demo and videos tab.

Sadly the video doesn’t give a price or exact release date (though the way it sounds we think it will be coming sooner rather than later), but hopefully that will all be cleared up soon.

So with Verizon and T-Mobile now for sure getting the new Bold Touch all we need is AT&T and Sprint to share the good news and everyone will be happy. Stay tuned– we think this BlackBerry news is just getting started.

UPDATE: So we just watched the video again and the end of the video the Verizon employee Blake makes sure to mention the Bold 9930’s faster processor, touchscreen, great BlackBerry keyboard and that it’s “paired with fastest, most advanced 4G LTE network in America.” Yeah, this could not just be the first touchscreen Bold, but also the first BlackBerry to run on Verizon’s super-fast 4G network.

Now the video didn’t mention 4G elsewhere or show off a “4G” logo so this may just be a mistake from an early video. But wow– we don’t know about you, but we can’t wait for tomorrow.

Top 5 New and Upcoming T-Mobile Phones: Summer 2011

We’ve covered AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint a little while ago but now it’s time for us to cover the final carrier on our list: T-Mobile.

So T-Mobile users– you’ve got an upgrade coming up sometime over the next couple of weeks/months and while you like some of the phones already out there, you really wanna know what T-Mobile’s got planned during those next few weeks or months so you don’t go out and buy something only to really regret it a week later. We’re here to help. While not all of these are confirmed to be coming to T-Mobile (some are just our best guesses based on rumors we’ve been hearing), here are 5 phones that are said to be on their way to T-Mobile that anyone with an upgrade should be really excited for (and trust us– they’re really good).

BlackBerry Bold 9900/9930 Announced– The Bold Touch Is Now Finally Official

blackberry bold 9900 official

It’s finally almost here. After months of leaks, the long-awaited BlackBerry Bold Touch is now finally official. Coming this summer, this new Bold looks to pick up as we all expected right where the previous Bold 9650/9700 (depending on if you are on Sprint/Verizon or AT&T/T-Mobile) left off.

As we all expected, this new Bold is pretty impressive and something any BlackBerry user (or wanter) should be excited for when they get to their time to upgrade. Not only is it the most powerful BlackBerry yet, but in our opinion the nicest looking one too! Just check out what’s in here:

  • BlackBerry OS 7– Formerly known in the rumors as BlackBerry OS 6.1, this new OS includes updates to make using your BlackBerry much easier. Updates here include a better and faster browser, nicer looking icons and menus, and universal search and voice search for finding things on your phone. And for all those wondering if you can upgrade your current OS 6 running BlackBerry, RIM has said OS 7 will not work on older BlackBerry 6 phones only the new ones they release (like this Bold).
  • 2.8 inch touchscreen with normal BlackBerry keyboard underneath– With a resolution of 640×480 everything– text, pix, videos, games, websites– will look incredible on here. And while it is a touchscreen (which we know some of you BlackBerry users might not want on your BlackBerry), it’s not a slider like the Torch and still has the trackpad and other BlackBerry buttons right below the screen and above that traditional, awesome BlackBerry keyboard so you can use it just like any other BlackBerry Bold.

  • Crazy thin— This is one of the reasons we said we think it’s the best looking BlackBerry yet: just look how thin it is!
  • 1.2 GHZ processor and 768 MB of RAM– Basically, this will be the fastest BlackBerry yet, by far.
  • WiFi, GPS, and NFC— NFC, or near field communications, will allow you to do things like use your phone as a credit card (in a safe and secure way) or interact with ads or billboards (think of it like those QR codes you see everywhere just now without the need to take a picture of anything. You just tap it or go near it and it works).
  • 5 megapixel camera with flash and HD video recording
As we said above, this will be available “this summer” (when exactly and for how much is still anyone’s guess) for most probably all 4 US carriers: AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon (AT&T and T-Mobile will get the GSM version called the 9900 and Sprint and Verizon will get the CDMA version the 9930. Both have the same specs you see above). T-Mobile has already even confirmed that this new Bold will be their first 4G BlackBerry (something we assumed would happen when we saw the leaked specs and that it had support for HSPA+ 4G, the 4G used by both AT&T and T-Mobile), and we don’t expect it to be too long until the others follow suit.
So BlackBerry users: like what you see or do you want more from RIM (like one of those other leaked phones) for you to stay with a BlackBerry over an iPhone/Droid/Windows Phone 7?
