Are These The New BlackBerry 10 Phones?

BlackBerry Z10 and X10 leak 2

Sure 2012 is coming to a close but that doesn’t mean we can’t start thinking about 2013. One of the biggest things to look for in 2013 is the new BlackBerry 10. BlackBerry 10 has been the long-awaited update for BlackBerry users and by most guesses, is probably the last chance Research in Motion (the makers of BlackBerry) has to avoid being finally killed off by Android and the iPhone. While we still have about a month until the full, official BlackBerry 10 unveiling (Research In Motion is planning a big BlackBerry 10 launch event for January 30th), thanks to some recent online leaks we now finally can see some of the rumored new BlackBerry 10 hardware. Meet the BlackBerry Z10 and X10.

The BlackBerry Z10 is the new all touch BlackBerry 10 phone, and it is loaded with many of the specs you’d expect in a top phone. Rumors say it will have a 1.5GHz dual-core processor with 2GB of RAM, a 4.2 inch HD screen, 4G LTE support, 16 GB or 32 GB of internal storage (with a microSD card slot for adding more), and an 8 megapixel back camera with a 2 megapixel front camera for HD video chat.

BlackBerry x10 leak 2

The X10 is kinda like the BlackBerry 10 version of the Bold 9900, and we gotta say, it actually looks pretty nice. Not much is known on the specs of the X10 but from the leaks it does appear to have a large touchscreen with that famous BlackBerry keyboard underneath.

The X10 is expected to be released a few weeks after the all touch Z10, though since RIM hasn’t yet announced either device– meaning these are for now all just rumors for now and can change– we don’t yet know when either will be available or how much they will cost.

blackberry 10 time shift

Software wise RIM has kept things equally close to the vest, though they have shown off some new BlackBerry 10 features over the last few months. They have even posted some videos online of cool new camera features like Time Shift– which takes the milliseconds before and after you take a picture and allows you to adjust the photo after you actually take it to get the perfect shot– as well as a new touch keyboard. There have been also been rumors suggesting updates to apps like BBM to let you be able to video chat with other BBM users which would make sense as today anyone with BBM on a BlackBerry 7 phone can make free voice calls to other BBM users with an app update.

With so much however still unknown about BlackBerry 10 it remains to be seen if it will convince anyone to stick with BlackBerry instead of going to an iPhone, Android or Windows Phone. We’ll of course have you covered on everything Research In Motion unveils at their BlackBerry 10 event on January 30th. In the meantime, what do you think of these new phones– do they make you want a BlackBerry 10 device to be your next phone, or is it too little too late and you’re going to go with something else instead?

Videos of the new keyboard and camera, as well as a couple more pictures of the Z10 and X10 (including a possible sighting of a BlackBerry 10 Curve– it’s the white phone next to the X10 and Z10), are after the break.

New BlackBerrys Being Revealed Tomorrow?

blackberry os 7 twitter post

We know a lot of you are very excited for the upcoming new Bold 9900/9930 (depending on of if your on AT&T/T-Mobile or Sprint/Verizon), but sadly ever since it was first announced in April RIM hasn’t said anything more such as when exactly we can expect it or some of the other rumored new BlackBerrys (like the new Torch, Curve or Storm). Well, looking at this latest tweet from BlackBerry we’ll hopefully have some of those answers soon. Like tomorrow soon.

The tweet, which you see above, is from the official BlackBerry Twitter account and teases some new info coming tomorrow on BlackBerry OS 7 devices (like that Bold Touch and new Torch, Curve and Storm!). And seeing as we already know a lot about OS 7 since it was announced back in April with the Bold Touch, hopefully these new “deets” will include some info on when exactly some of the new BlackBerrys will be in stores and for how much.

So BlackBerry fans stay tuned– it looks like the info you’ve all been waiting for will finally be revealed soon. And make sure to check back here tomorrow for whatever it is BlackBerry has to share.

BlackBerry Bold 9900/9930 Announced– The Bold Touch Is Now Finally Official

blackberry bold 9900 official

It’s finally almost here. After months of leaks, the long-awaited BlackBerry Bold Touch is now finally official. Coming this summer, this new Bold looks to pick up as we all expected right where the previous Bold 9650/9700 (depending on if you are on Sprint/Verizon or AT&T/T-Mobile) left off.

As we all expected, this new Bold is pretty impressive and something any BlackBerry user (or wanter) should be excited for when they get to their time to upgrade. Not only is it the most powerful BlackBerry yet, but in our opinion the nicest looking one too! Just check out what’s in here:

  • BlackBerry OS 7– Formerly known in the rumors as BlackBerry OS 6.1, this new OS includes updates to make using your BlackBerry much easier. Updates here include a better and faster browser, nicer looking icons and menus, and universal search and voice search for finding things on your phone. And for all those wondering if you can upgrade your current OS 6 running BlackBerry, RIM has said OS 7 will not work on older BlackBerry 6 phones only the new ones they release (like this Bold).
  • 2.8 inch touchscreen with normal BlackBerry keyboard underneath– With a resolution of 640×480 everything– text, pix, videos, games, websites– will look incredible on here. And while it is a touchscreen (which we know some of you BlackBerry users might not want on your BlackBerry), it’s not a slider like the Torch and still has the trackpad and other BlackBerry buttons right below the screen and above that traditional, awesome BlackBerry keyboard so you can use it just like any other BlackBerry Bold.
blackberry bold 9900 dime
  • Crazy thin— This is one of the reasons we said we think it’s the best looking BlackBerry yet: just look how thin it is!
  • 1.2 GHZ processor and 768 MB of RAM– Basically, this will be the fastest BlackBerry yet, by far.
  • WiFi, GPS, and NFC— NFC, or near field communications, will allow you to do things like use your phone as a credit card (in a safe and secure way) or interact with ads or billboards (think of it like those QR codes you see everywhere just now without the need to take a picture of anything. You just tap it or go near it and it works).
  • 5 megapixel camera with flash and HD video recording
As we said above, this will be available “this summer” (when exactly and for how much is still anyone’s guess) for most probably all 4 US carriers: AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon (AT&T and T-Mobile will get the GSM version called the 9900 and Sprint and Verizon will get the CDMA version the 9930. Both have the same specs you see above). T-Mobile has already even confirmed that this new Bold will be their first 4G BlackBerry (something we assumed would happen when we saw the leaked specs and that it had support for HSPA+ 4G, the 4G used by both AT&T and T-Mobile), and we don’t expect it to be too long until the others follow suit.
So BlackBerry users: like what you see or do you want more from RIM (like one of those other leaked phones) for you to stay with a BlackBerry over an iPhone/Droid/Windows Phone 7?

So you’re on AT&T, you’ve got an upgrade coming up sometime over the next couple of months and while you like some of the phones already out there, you really wanna know what AT&T’s got coming out during the next few weeks or months so you don’t go out and buy something only to really regret it a week later. While not all of these are confirmed to be coming to AT&T (some are just our best guesses based on rumors we’ve been hearing), here are 5 phones that are said to be on their way to AT&T and that any AT&T user with an upgrade should be really excited for.

New Videos, Info On BlackBerry Bold Touch Leak Out– Looks Amazing!

If you’re looking for a new BlackBerry then you probably are gonna want to hold off buying that Bold/Curve/Torch for at least the next couple of weeks as it looks like there are some pretty incredible updates on the way. We already covered the rumored major updates to the Curve, Torch, Storm and Bold that BGR leaked back in January, and today YouTube user BBLeaks has come out with some leaked videos of their own on what to expect in this new, next generation Bold Touch– and put simply, it looks sick.

The design of the new BlackBerry Bold Touch

Take everything you love in the current Bold design (such as that awesome keyboard and design with trackpad in case you don’t want to use the touchscreen), throw in a solid multitouch screen in place of the current non-touch one above the keyboard (read: not slide-up like the Torch), and add a new, updated version of BlackBerry OS 6.1 along with a faster processor and yeah, we’re probably looking at the best BlackBerry yet! As we can see from these leaked YouTube vids– which show everything from pinch to zoom, to the new icons, to making a call to putting in a SIM card (for the AT&T/T-Mobile versions we assume unless this will also be a “world phone” like Sprint and Verizon’s latest Bold 9650, which is definitely a possibility)– design wise this really does look like the perfect BlackBerry.

Of course this BlackBerry Bold Touch isn’t yet confirmed by RIM, but with their big BlackBerry World conference just under a month away (it kicks off May 3rd) we expect it to be real soon.

All the leaked videos after the break.

T-Mobile Announces New BlackBerry Bold 9780

blackberry bold 9780 tmobile

Looking for a new T-Mobile BlackBerry? If you are then don’t pull the trigger on that Curve 3G just yet because T-Mobile and RIM (the BlackBerry maker) have a new BlackBerry coming soon. This new BlackBerry, called the Bold 9780, is an update to the current Bold 9700– and while it’s no Torch, this updated Bold is pretty solid in its own right.

Design wise, the Bold 9780 is pretty much the exact same as the 9700 with its solid screen and awesome BlackBerry keyboard, but under the hood is where the difference is made. This new Bold packs a number of improvements over the older Bold 9700 in this area, including:  double the RAM– up to 512 MB from the 9700’s 256 MB– for an even faster experience (particularly when doing things like multitasking), a 5 megapixel camera with flash (up from the Bold 9700’s 3.2 megapixel), 3G, WiFi, GPS, and the new BlackBerry 6 OS with all its new features like the updated BBM and better web browser.

Unfortunately, there’s no sign of this BlackBerry having access to T-Mobile’s new extremely fast HSPA+ network like the Android running G2 and new myTouch 4G, but you will be able to pick this bad boy up starting November 17th for a not too bad price of $129.99 with a new 2 year contract and data plan.

For more info on the Bold 9780, check out T-Mobile’s Coming Soon page here.

Verizon Announces the BlackBerry Bold 9650, Out Now

Wow, that was quick. Just over 2 weeks after Sprint released their successor to the Tour, Verizon has now come out to do the same. Yup, all you Verizon BlackBerry users can go and pick up this new BB with all it’s WiFi, trackpad, more RAM (which should mean an even faster BB particularly with multiple apps running), and all the other traditional BlackBerry goodness like the great QWERTY keyboard, 3G, and 3.2 megapixel. Like the Sprint version, the Verizon Bold 9650 will also ship with a 2 GB microSD card.

Verizon has also made this their first “GlobalAccess Connect” phone, allowing all you globe-trotters out there to use this as a worldwide GPS (thanks to VZ Navigator, and assuming your going to Canada, Mexico, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Spain, Sweden or the UK). Verizon also enables you to tether your BlackBerry to your laptop when abroad, meaning you can share your phone’s internet with your computer, though it will probably cost you a pretty penny; plans start at an additional $55 for a 5 GB limit when tethering in the US and Canada with an 100 MB limit when tethering abroad…  but at least you have the choice!

The Bold 9650 is out now and you can order it right now on Verizon’s site, or can pick it up next Thursday (June 10th) in Verizon stores for $150 ($50 less than what Sprint charges) with a new 2 year contract and data plan.

More Details On the Mysterious BlackBerry Slider Leak Out– Coming to AT&T in the Summer?

Wow, in summer already shaping up to be awesome for buying new phones with the releases of the EVO 4G and new iPhone, we can now possibly add to that list a new BlackBerry– that really cool touchscreen slider BlackBerry Bold 9800 we first saw a couple of months earlier.

The pix are much clearer than the ones we’ve seen in the past, and show off a couple of pretty big things, such as BlackBerry OS 6 (see above pic), the latest major update providing, among other things, a real web browser, improved media player (with its own version of Cover Flow), as well as a true multi-touch OS. Its worth noting here that the phone is also said to just be using a “normal” multi-touch screen and not the SurePress touchscreen seen on the Storm line.

The pic below is shot of the phone booting up to an AT&T screen, implying as Boy Genius Report claims, that AT&T is slated to get this monster new phone this summer!

RIM is still keeping quiet and hasn’t confirmed (or even said) anything about this phone so for the time being it’s still a rumor, but don’t worry– we’ll make sure to keep you up to date as we learn more.
