That was quick. Today is the day Sprint’s new BlackBerry Bold 9930 and Torch 9850 are finally released, and if you were looking pick up that new Bold 9930 today just got a lot better for you. Sprint has wised-up and dropped the new Bold’s price from the previously announced $250 on new 2 year contract and data plan down to a much better $200 on contract (the Torch 9850’s price is still $150). Specs on the new Bold are still the same, but it’s still nice to see Sprint drop the price the day the phone goes on sale. Let’s hope Verizon and T-Mobile (particularly T-Mobile) drop their prices soon too.
You can order the new Bold 9930 from Sprint here.
It looks like Verizon wasn’t the only one with new BlackBerry news to share today, and if you’re on Sprint and anxiously waiting for that awesome new Bold 9930 or Torch 9850 you’re wait for both is almost over. Sprint has today confirmed that both the new Bold and the new Torch will be launching next Sunday, August 21st, for the expected prices of $250 (Bold) and $150 (Torch) with a new 2 year contract and data plan. Everything else on these new BlackBerrys is pretty much the same as we heard two weeks ago, and for those looking for the full breakdown of what’s new in these new Sprint BlackBerry’s see our previous post here.
So Sprint users what’s it gonna be: new Bold or new Torch for back-to-school?
Verizon BlackBerry users here is the news you’ve been waiting for: the Bold 9930 (aka the Bold Touch) is now finally available for you to order from Verizon for $250 with a new 2 year contract and data plan.
Specs wise the Verizon Bold 9930 comes with pretty much everything we expected: a 1.2 GHZ processor with 768 MB of RAM (so everything from BBMing to browsing the web is much faster), 5 megapixel back camera with the ability to take 720p HD video (there is no front camera for video chat), the latest and greatest BlackBerry 7 OS, and that awesome BlackBerry keyboard underneath that 2.8 inch multi-touch screen. Unfortunately, like Sprint’s Bold 9930 this Verizon Bold 9930 is also 3G-only which means you can’t use it on Verizon’s superfast 4G LTE network (something we were hoping Verizon would sneak in particularly since it’s a pretty expensive $250 on 2 year contract). For the full recap of what’s in this new Bold see our previous post here.
Basically, if you’re on Verizon and looking for a new BlackBerry for school this year, this is the one you’ve been waiting for.
More info: Verizon
We know a lot of you are very excited for the upcoming new Bold 9900/9930 (depending on of if your on AT&T/T-Mobile or Sprint/Verizon), but sadly ever since it was first announced in April RIM hasn’t said anything more such as when exactly we can expect it or some of the other rumored new BlackBerrys (like the new Torch, Curve or Storm). Well, looking at this latest tweet from BlackBerry we’ll hopefully have some of those answers soon. Like tomorrow soon.
The tweet, which you see above, is from the official BlackBerry Twitter account and teases some new info coming tomorrow on BlackBerry OS 7 devices (like that Bold Touch and new Torch, Curve and Storm!). And seeing as we already know a lot about OS 7 since it was announced back in April with the Bold Touch, hopefully these new “deets” will include some info on when exactly some of the new BlackBerrys will be in stores and for how much.
So BlackBerry fans stay tuned– it looks like the info you’ve all been waiting for will finally be revealed soon. And make sure to check back here tomorrow for whatever it is BlackBerry has to share.
