Apple’s big iPhone event is still a few hours away (it officially kicks off at around 1 PM Eastern, 10 AM Pacific), but it looks like some of the days surprises are leaking out a bit early.
The internet is buzzing this morning as some searches on Apple’s site reveal links to pages for the upcoming iPhone 5, as well as for a new iPod Touch (with a new design and larger screen like the iPhone 5), Nano and iTunes 11. The links themselves aren’t live yet, so we still don’t know all the details on what’s new with these iDevices (though we have some guesses for what the new iPhone 5 will be). We do though now know one feature that will be in the new iPhone: 4G LTE. A quick search for LTE iPhone shows yet another not yet live link for LTE on the iPhone.
As always stay tuned, things here are just getting started. We’ll have more from Apple’s big event later today.
Waiting for more info on Verizon and Motorola’s next big Droid before tomorrow’s big event? Well then we think you’re gonna love this. What you see above is the first official pic of the upcoming Droid RAZR– and wow does it look incredible. The picture– which has not surprisingly now been taken down– was taken today from Motorola’s teaser site for tomorrow’s event. And while we still don’t know the exact specs we know we can now expect a phone that’s crazy thin (it’s a RAZR after all), has a large screen, a front camera for video chat with a back camera capable of taking 1080p full HD video (meaning it’s most likely an 8 megapixel camera), and has support for Verizon’s blazing fast 4G LTE network.
In short, if you’re looking for a new Verizon phone anytime soon you’re definitely gonna wanna check back here tomorrow for everything you’re gonna want and need to know about this beast. Stay tuned!
File this under major rumor. Today a few leaked cases hit the internet supposedly showing off the iPhone 5’s major new design. And while this is only a rumor, you know what– we actually can see this as being real. But before we get to our thoughts, let’s get to the rumors.
These new cases from a respected case manufacturer called Case-Mate. Apparently earlier today someone at Case-Mate put up a page on their website very clearly showing off iPhone 5 cases, and while we could only see the back, the cases do match up with all those earlier rumors of a much thinner design and larger camera (the page by the way has now been pulled).
Now here’s why we really can see these rumors as being legit. With the iPhone 5 rumored to be coming next month (the CEO of one of France’s biggest carriers seemed to confirm that today, saying it’ll be coming October 15th), and Apple said to have already begun making hundreds of thousands of these new iPhones in China each day (something they’d need to start doing now if they were launching worldwide in October. We’re talking millions of phones here that take much more than a few days to make), it only makes sense for Apple to pass along info to case manufacturers and accessory makers so everyone can have everything ready whenever Apple finally does release the iPhone 5. And that someone of the who knows how many companies involved in making the iPhone 5 or its accessories would leak something like this (or post it early by mistake) is not that crazy of an idea at all.
So yeah, this still may not be the iPhone 5 (there are still some rumors saying it’ll just be an updated iPhone 4 with pretty much the same iPhone 4 design), but we would not be surprised at all if it is.
We’ll of course keep you updated as more iPhone 5 info comes out, so stay tuned– something tells us that with all these leaks and big rumors an official iPhone 5 announcement is very close. In the meantime though, what do you think of this possible new iPhone 5 design?
We know a lot of you are eagerly awaiting for more info on Motorola and Verizon’s upcoming super powerful, 4G LTE running Droid Bionic and from the looks of this latest Verizon ad, we just got one of the last missing details on the phone: it’s release date. If you pay close attention to the new Verizon Droid Bionic TV ad (seen below) you’ll see at the end the date 9.8.11. If that looks familiar it’s because it’s the same September 8th date previously rumored to be the launch date for the Bionic. Sadly the ad doesn’t mention a price (though we think it will be $300 on contract), but with apparently just a week before it comes out we expect to find that out soon.
We also know that the Droid Bionic will be getting its own laptop dock like the AT&T Motorola Atrix 4G, though again no word on how much it will cost (let’s hope they don’t charge $500 for it or make you have to get a tethering plan like AT&T did).
We’ll of course keep you updated as more info comes out, but hang tight Droid Bionic fans– you’re perfect back to school phone looks to finally be almost here.

If you’re waiting for Motorola and Verizon’s dual-core, 4G LTE beast of a phone– also known as the Droid Bionic— it looks like your wait is almost over. Best Buy has posted their September Mobile Phone Guide and what do ya know, the Droid Bionic is featured a few times as one of the phones to get if your on Verizon. Best Buy also seems to have confirmed some of the key specs of the Droid Bionic (something we weren’t sure about once Motorola said they were going to re-do the Droid Bionic a few months ago), and like the original Bionic, this looks to be the most powerful Verizon 4G phone we’ve seen yet. Here are the full specs:
- 4.3 inch qHD screen— Like the Photon 4G, Sensation 4G and most other top of the line phones today. In short, this is a screen that will make everything you view on it look great.
- The latest Android 2.3 Gingerbread
- 1 GHZ dual core processor– So everything on the phone is as fast as that Verizon 4G LTE.
- 8 megapixel back camera with front camera for video chat— The back camera can also record videos in full 1080p HD.
Now Motorola has confirmed that the Bionic will be coming in September, with the latest rumors saying it will launch September 8th for $299.99 with new 2 year contract and data plan (which makes sense to us given how all the other Verizon 4G LTE phones started out in that $300 price range when they launched). There are also rumors that the Bionic will get its own laptop dock like the AT&T Atrix, but no word on that from the Best Buy ad.
Hopefully this all means that Verizon and Motorola will make this all official soon. Stay tuned.
UPDATE: The Verizon Wireless homepage now has link to a sign up page for email updates on the Bionic. There’s still no confirmed price or release date but it looks like all that is just a matter of time now.

Release Dates and Prices For Sprint’s BlackBerry Bold 9930 and Torch 9850 Leak– Are Both Coming Out On The 21st?
While T-Mobile and AT&T haven’t given any word on when their new BlackBerrys will be launching (and Verizon hasn’t even officially confirmed which new BlackBerrys they’ll be getting– though we think we know one of them), it looks like Sprint will be the first to launch their new BlackBerry 7 phones. And just in time for you to get it before school starts too.
According to this latest leaked Sprint document on BGR (a site that we all know knows their BlackBerry leaks), Sprint will be releasing both their new Torch 9850 and Bold 9930 in about nine days, August 21st, for $149 and $249 respectively (with the usual new 2 year contract and data plan). If true– and we believe it very well may be as the release dates line up with some earlier rumors about the new BlackBerrys’ launch dates– this is pretty solid news for Sprint users.
Sure we think the 3G-only Bold 9930 is a bit expensive at $249 (even if it otherwise looks to be the best BlackBerry yet), and we’re not sure the Torch is worth nearly the same price as the more powerful and 4G capable Motorola Photon or HTC EVO 3D, but who knows– since Sprint or RIM haven’t actually confirmed any of this maybe they’ll bring the price down to the much more tempting $200 and $100 respectively (and if they don’t, maybe someone like Amazon or Best Buy will do it instead).
We’re obviously gonna keep searching for more on this, but if you’re on Sprint and want a new BlackBerry for the upcoming school year we really think you’re gonna want to wait a few more days to see if this becomes official.
It’s not the Bold Touch 9900, but it finally looks like some of those once rumored new BlackBerrys are finally on their way to being released. The pic you see above is the next generation of the BlackBerry Torch, the BlackBerry Torch 4G 9810, taken from AT&T’s site.
Since AT&T or RIM (the makers of BlackBerry) haven’t officially announced this yet we’re not 100% sure on all the new improvements the Torch 4G will have over the original Torch. We do though know that it will be much faster (thanks to a much more powerful 1.2 GHZ processor), record 720p HD video with its back camera (which means that it’s at least 5 megapixels), have 8 GB of built-in storage (with support for another 32 GB through microSD), run the latest and greatest BlackBerry 7 OS (like on the Bold Touch 9900. BlackBerry 7 features a ton of improvements like the latest BBM 6, better graphics and browser, and an improved touchscreen keyboard for when you don’t want to use that slide-out BlackBerry keyboard), and pack support for AT&T’s 4G HSPA+ network.
No word on price or an exact release date, but with BlackBerry hosting their Fan Night event in Toronto tonight (an event which was teased to be bringing new BlackBerrys last week), let’s hope that we’ll finally find out more very soon.

Could this be true? BBM on an iPhone?
File this one under the most awesome and incredible rumor we’ve ever heard. According to BGR, who is pretty much dead-on when it comes to BlackBerry news (they were the ones who first leaked the Storm three years ago and more recently BlackBerry’s upcoming 2011 lineup), both Android and the iPhone (and it’s iOS) may soon get one of the greatest BlackBerry features on their devices– official BlackBerry Messenger. Yes, BBM is said to be on its way for Android and iPhone.
BGR’s sources didn’t reveal an exact date for when all this would go down, though according to the leak it did appear that at least the Android version would be at least announced this year (our guess would be at BlackBerry’s big BlackBerry World conference in May, but again that’s just our guess) with iPhone/iOS support after that. The BGR leak also goes on to mention how this would be more of a “BBM-lite” and while you would be able to BBM with anyone on a BlackBerry, the Android and iPhone versions might be lacking certain features like sending pics, and videos. For that full BBM experience you’d need to get an actual BlackBerry.
A lot of you are probably thinking right about now “the only reason I’d get a BlackBerry is for BBM, why would I go with it now if I can just get it on iPhone and Android?” Well, as we said above and as BGR alludes to in his post, this would be a great way for BlackBerry to begin to pull people back away from the ever-growing iPhone and Android platforms by teasing them with the BBM and BlackBerry experience, with the only way to get that full experience being switching to a BlackBerry (and if there’s an additional fee to use BBM on iPhone/Android then people who love the service may be even more eager to switch over and get full BBM and save money).
Seeing as one of the most frequent questions we get here at TeensTalkTech is about BBM and BlackBerry here’s the million dollar question– how important is BBM to you and are you willing to still go with that “BBM-lite” (again, text only no pic or video sharing) on an iPhone/Android phone or would you still go with the traditional BlackBerry and BBM when you go for your next new phone? Sound off in the comments.

A sign of a new MacBook Pro coming this week?
If you’re looking for a new MacBook Pro you may wanna wait a couple of days as a big update is set to be coming this Thursday, February 24th.
Now what exactly is in this update is still largely a mystery. Rumors have this being anything from a major update to Intel’s latest processors (codenamed “Sandy Bridge”– the latest and greatest in Intel’s Core line), a major update to the design (dropping the DVD drive in favor of a more MacBook Air like design), support for the next generation of USB based on Intel’s Light Peak tech (which is so much faster than the current USB 2.0 that its ridiculous. Think of transferring a whole Blu-ray movie in 30 seconds!!! This stuff is blazing fast), and even better battery life. Yeah, this should be huge. And this update looks to be across all the MacBook Pro lines– with the 13, 15, and 17 inches all getting updated.
Now how do we know this is coming? Well, for one Best Buy has a whole bunch of pages up on their site for some new MacBook Pros (like the one above) with prices of $1199 and $1499 for new 13 inch (same prices as current 13 inch MacBook Pro), $1799 and $2199 for new 15 inch (same prices as current 15 inch), and $2499 for a new 17 inch model (again, same price as the current 17 inch MacBook Pro). We also called up Best Buy for more info and while even they couldn’t find out actual specs, the reps we spoke to seemed to confirm that Apple plans to release these new models this Thursday.
We’re gonna keep digging for more and will let you know what we find.
Is this the amazing HTC Thunderbolt 4G for Verizon?
HTC was the first to 4G phones for Sprint and T-Mobile (first two for T-Mobile actually with the myTouch 4G and G2), and by all accounts they look to be the first to jump on the Verizon 4G train. They’ve already gotten preview pages up on their site and ads beginning to appear across the internet (which is where the name Thunderbolt 4G was found. You can see the link for yourself here, with the proof being in the URL for page). And boy, like the EVO 4G for Sprint, HTC is rumored to have gone all out here on the specs. Not only is there that amazing Verizon 4G LTE awesomeness, but the Thunderbolt (also known as Incredible HD) is rumored to pack an 8 megapixel camera with dual flash (which seems to be confirmed from ads we’ve seen on the web featuring this “masked” phone from HTC’s 4G page in one of their classic “YOU” ads. See a pic of what we mean after the break), kickstand, 4.3 inch screen, Android 2.3 (which we’re pulling for. Some rumors say that it will launch with the older 2.2, but with 2.3 out since the Nexus S, we gotta hope HTC puts it on this beast from the start), and a front camera for video chat (all just like the EVO– just with this front camera RUMORed to possibly be an insane 5 megapixels! If this 5 megapixel piece is true and not just some dream rumor, then were talking about HD video chat!).
Throw in additional rumors of an even more powerful dual core 1.2 GHZ Snapdragon processor (meaning the most amazing mobile processor to date– think full computer power brought down into your phone. Not only will things be running incredibly fast, but games and graphics will also look ridiculous!), and we’re looking at possibly one of the greatest phones in 2011, no matter what else comes out!
The HTC preview site lists January 6th (which just so happens to be the first day of CES– 4 days away!) as the day all will be revealed– and you can bet that whatever happens, we’ll be all over it.
A couple more pix of the Thunderbolt 4G (via Droid-Life) and the pics of the ads for video chat and the 8 megapixel camera after the break.
